How Closer GPS Develops, Tests, and Evolves Its Products Through a Global Workflow
At Closer, product development is not a linear path but a continuous, dynamic process that connects virtual experimentation, field testing, and global collaboration. Every product is the result of a carefully designed workflow that allows ideas to be validated early, refined quickly, and delivered with confidence.
Where Everything Begins: The Virtual Environment
The first step in our development process takes place in a fully virtual environment. Using advanced 3D software, we translate concepts into digital models and simulations. This is where ideas are challenged, validated, and proven before any physical production begins.
In this space, we conduct the very first tests and trials, verifying that solutions work not only in theory but also in practice. The virtual environment allows us to iterate rapidly, identify potential issues early, and make informed decisions before committing to manufacturing.
From Simulation to Production: Japan and Italy Working Together
Once a concept has been validated digitally, development moves into production. This phase is shared between Japan and Italy, each contributing specific expertise.
In Japan, our technical partners handle part of the production process, ensuring the highest standards of precision and reliability. In parallel, in Italy, we manufacture a large number of components using advanced technologies such as 3D printing. These components are then integrated and assembled once the main units arrive from Japan.
This hybrid approach allows us to combine industrial excellence with flexibility, enabling fast customization and continuous refinement.

A Constant Exchange of Information
One of the key strengths of Closer’s development model is the constant flow of information between the field, Italy, and Japan.
Data and feedback are collected directly in real operating conditions and sent to our development center in Italy. Here, the results are analyzed, processed, and transformed into concrete improvements. These insights are then communicated to the Japanese technical center, which promptly integrates the updates into the products.
Updated units are shipped back to Italy, where new firmware versions, developed in Japan and delivered to our Italian team, are installed on the latest production batches. This continuous loop ensures that improvements are not theoretical, but immediately applied to real products.
A Highly Reactive Global Network
Despite the geographical distance, this global network is extremely responsive. The close collaboration between teams allows us to constantly update our products, ensuring they can meet the most demanding and evolving requirements of our customers.
This structure enables Closer to react quickly to new needs, technological advancements, and field feedback, maintaining a high level of performance and reliability across all product generations.
Our Commitment to Customers After Launch
We are fully aware that customers may purchase a product and then see new updates released shortly afterward. For this reason, we strive to minimize post-launch updates as much as possible.
To achieve this, we dedicate long development and extensive field co-production phases before a product reaches the market. Our goal is to deliver solutions that are already mature, stable, and ready for real-world use.
Moreover, our products are designed from the start to include both hardware and software updates that enable the use of accessories still under development. These accessories will be released in the future, allowing customers to benefit from products that are already prepared for what comes next.
At Closer, development does not stop at release, it anticipates the future, so our customers are always one step ahead.
